8th Annual Inland Empire Regional Chili Cook-Off & Car/Cycle Show

It's that time again! Today is the 8th Annual Inland Empire Regional Chili Cook-Off & Car/Cycle Show!

Saturday, May 29th from 9:30am to 5pm. Parts of Magnolia Ave. in Riverside will be blocked off for the show.

If anyone has any good photos of the event, please email me some copies or send me some links and I will put the pics up on this page!

There should be some GORGEOUS classic cars there for everyone to admire.

Sunrises are Beautiful, Sleepless Nights are Not.

As some of you may well know, I'm also an SAT Test Prep tutor. I've taught individual students as well as many large SAT classes at private and public schools in LA County, Orange County, Riverside County and San Bernardino County. I absolutely love teaching! It's so rewarding to see the improvement and increased confidence in my students. Plus, it's actually pretty fun - high school students are intelligent enough where I can have dry-humor and be sarcastic, and it won't go unappreciated.

But I really dislike early morning classes. I'm a niteowl/insomniac by nature - I've always been like this. In fact, I get really frustrated-jealous of people who can fall asleep quickly and easily. I have a tendency to worry about nothing and everything keeps my awake. Noises, talking, TV, dogs howling, crickets, and even the ticking of clocks will keep me awake all night long.

Needless to say, combine the worrying of a morning class plan, and my inability to sleep at night; we will easily get another routine sleepless night, a bad attitude, and potentially poor driving skills. Maybe that's why Asians are thought of as bad drivers, or is women who are thought of as bad drivers? Seeing as I qualify for both, either way, when I don't get any sleep, I am guilty of poor judgment, driving or not.

In conclusion, I'm going to have to stop scheduling classes for 8am.

Memorial Day is Coming Up, Gas Prices Going Down

Memorial Day is historically the last Monday in the month of May. This year, Memorial Day will fall on May 31st.

According to CNNMoney.com, gas prices have been drifting lower over the past week, which is welcome news for drivers who are gearing up to hit the road for Memorial Day weekend.

The average price for a gallon of unleaded gas sits at about $2.89 a gallon. That's about 27% higher than last year, but about 1.4% below the 2010 peak of about $2.93 a gallon set on May 6, according to motorist group AAA.

This is good news for those of you who are planning a road trip for Memorial weekend!
